All-New 2023 Kia Sportage

The All-New 2023 Kia Sportage is Bigger, Bolder, and Better than Ever

The Sportage is Kia's longest-running nameplate, having been around almost since the automaker's incorporation in the United States. And now, the segment-pioneering compact crossover has undergone the most significant change in its nearly 30-year history.

Fully redesigned for the 2023 model year, the Kia Sportage rolls into its fifth generation with a bold new design language and upgrades to every aspect of the driving experience. Offering spacious and refined accommodations, expansive cargo capacity, and a host of cutting-edge tech and safety features, the all-new Sportage aims for the top in the crowded compact crossover class.

Design and Accommodations

Exhibiting elements of Kia's new "Opposites United" design philosophy, the 2023 Sportage shares a few styling elements with siblings like the Telluride, Sorento, and Seltos. A broad-shouldered stance and clean character lines highlight the SUV's ruggedness and capability. And a bold front fascia with a floating "Tiger Nose" grille, "boomerang" daytime running lights, and angular fenders evoke a strong presence.

On the inside, the 2023 Sportage is spacious and inviting, with attractive, modern design details, quality materials, and generous headroom and legroom for all passengers. With 39.6 cubic feet behind the rear seats, Sportage offers the most capacious cargo area in its class. And when you need more carrying capacity for your errands or adventures in Shelby, NC, the second row folds easily to reveal up to 74.1 cubic feet.

Performance

Under the hood, the 2023 Sportage equips a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with more power and efficiency than its predecessor. A new 8-speed automatic transmission sends 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels. And for greater handling and four-season control, all-wheel drive is standard on X-Line and X-Pro trims and available for all other models. While additional powertrain information has yet to be made available, Kia has stated that electrified variants will be joining the lineup at a later date.

For Simpsonville drivers looking to explore beyond the asphalt, the all-new X-Pro trim level improves the Sportage's off-road prospects with Active All-Wheel Drive, a center-locking differential, B.F. Goodrich all-terrain tires, and Multi-terrain drive modes.

Technology and Safety

The 2023 Sportage's interior tech is intuitively functional and visually striking. Standard features include a 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. And with the available 12.3-inch infotainment system, the futuristic driver-focused cockpit forms a seamless dual panoramic curved display measuring nearly 25 inches.

The all-new Sportage also boasts the most extensive roster of advanced driver-assistance technologies in its segment, including available innovations like a Blind-Spot View Monitor camera system, Highway Driving Assist, and Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control with curve and speed zone anticipation. Plus, it comes standard with Kia's Advanced Driver Assistance Systems like:

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance with Pedestrian and Cyclist detection
  • Driver Attention Warning with leading vehicle departure alert
  • Lane Keeping Assist
  • Lane Following Assist
  • Reverse Parking Distance Warning
  • Rear View Monitor with Dynamic Parking Guidance
  • High Beam Assist
  • Rear Occupant Alert
