Kia Connected Technology Overview

Kia has transformed from basic transportation into a leader in automotive technology. From app-based vehicle management to advanced charging features, these tools enhance comfort, security, and convenience for everyday driving.

Kia Connect (Formerly UVO)

Kia rebranded its UVO telematics system to Kia Connect to provide a faster, subscription-based digital experience. Accessible through the Kia Access mobile app or the vehicle's onboard touchscreen, Kia Connect bridges the gap between your smartphone and your vehicle.

Drivers can remotely start the engine, set pre-conditioned cabin temperatures, lock or unlock doors, and locate their parked vehicle on a map. The system also includes real-time traffic updates, vehicle health diagnostics, and emergency safety features like automatic collision notifications.

Digital Key 2.0

Kia Digital Key turns compatible smartphones and smartwatches into functional vehicle keys. Using Ultra-Wideband technology, the vehicle detects your authorized phone as you approach, allowing you to unlock the doors and start the engine without removing the phone from your pocket or bag.

Owner access can be shared digitally with family members or friends through Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, or Samsung Wallet. The primary owner retains full control and can assign specific access permissions or revoke digital keys remotely at any time.

Remote Smart Parking Assist

Remote Smart Parking Assist lets drivers maneuver their Kia into or out of tight parking spaces while standing completely outside the vehicle.

Using sensors around the bumpers, the vehicle handles steering, acceleration, gear shifting, and braking automatically. Drivers simply hold a button on the smart key fob to glide the vehicle straight forward or backward into parallel or perpendicular spots. This prevents door dings and eliminates awkward maneuvering in narrow garage bays or packed parking lots.

Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) Charging

Vehicle-to-Load capability transforms electric vehicles like the Kia EV6 and EV9 into mobile power banks. Utilizing the energy stored in the high-voltage EV battery pack, V2L delivers standard 120V household electricity through interior outlets and exterior charging port adapters.

This allows owners to run electronics, tailgating equipment, power tools, or camping appliances off the vehicle grid. During unexpected home power outages, V2L can serve as an emergency backup source for essential household devices.
